Geringsing, the double ikat made here is so precious that it goes for US$500 per metre, regarded as a national treasure and not allowd out of Bali, officially.
The word means 'no sickness'. Quite highly placed Indonesians will have just a small cutting tied to the bed-post to ward off sickness.
It is said to be woven only in Tenganan, somewhere in Thailand, from silk thread in Japan and (I think) in Venezuela or somewhere there in Central America.
Be careful of the imitations you will be offered.
