Hi
I've been to Bali 5 times and we always take some food with us. Forget the salad they make great salad over there. I take vegemite, cause I can't do without it, and it saves time looking for it! I also take packets of BBQ shapes and the kraft cheddar cheese, so we can have nibblies with our drinks outside our rooms. Smiths chips and brand names we know over here can be expensive over there.
In the first couple of days we ge to the supermarket and buy a kettle, chopping board, knife, teaspoons, sugar and milk. This way we can buy avocados, tomatos and bread and make sandwiches for ourselves, on the days when we feel like something from home. Having a kettle is great, it means you can have a cuppa before you face the breakfast crowd! I can't function until I have a cuppa. Also if you have a favourite coffee or tea take it with you. You can buy the original nescafe over there but it can be a little pricie(over there its imported). Our hotel is happy for us to take our vegemite, coffee and tea down to breakfast aNd we order a pot of hot water and breakfast is great.
Also take you own conditioner! Their supermarkets sell a huge variey of shampoo but not much conditioner.
When we are leaving we leave all our food stuff, kettle etc in our room or give it to balinese people we have met, they love it! ALso it gives us more room to fit our shopping in our cases
