Your question as it stands is a little too broad.
If you want a laid back holiday in a 4 or 5 star hotel, then stay in Nusa Dua.
If you want lots of late night partying, then stay in Kuta or Legian.
If you want to shop until you drop, stay in Kuta or Legian.
If you want a hotel with lots of water sports, stay at Sanur or Tanjung Benoa.
If you want to experience a bit more 'culture', stay in Ubud or further inland.
Do you want quiet, or noisy? Action or inaction? Luxury or budget......the list goes on!
Choose what area/s you like the sound of, then ask for recommendations for that area. You are more likely to get responses when you can be a little more specific with your wants. :-)
