My 16 year old daughter was always attracted to high rates offered in Legian Street in Kuta. Even with my befuddled mind (I am over 50), I always noticed the fine print on the sign stating "less commission".
I then steered her to the commission free money changers where I exchanged my $A100 note. As a previous poster has pointed out, it is simmple even for someone over 50 to add two zeros to the advertised rate and count the money back in front of the money changer.
