On my first trip to Bali in 98 I was ripped off by a money changer in Tuban. Not knowing that there was crook ones I changed A$100 and back then they use to wrap the money in 100,000rp lots. Not knowing to check the money I found out the next day when I went to pay for something that cost 100,000rp. I handed over the wad and when the lady checked it there was only 90,000rp in it. Later I checked the other nine bundles and the same thing 10,000rp missing from each one. I didn't know that I could go to the tourist Police at the time. From then on I checked all money and only cashed at PT Kuta Central and never have had a problem.
