I just got back from my 11th trip to Bali. I went by myself and stayed for 3 weeks at Green Garden. Hotel was great, room was quite big and staff were extremely friendly. Although I stayed at Green Garden I spent most of my days lying around the pool at Dynasty which is next door as all my friends work there and more of an atmosphere around the pool. Couldn't fault Green Garden at all. I'm becoming a bit of a local now and spent the 3 weeks visiting local friends and going to ceremonies (wedding and friends babies ceremony) So interesting to see. Went to my boyfriends village where his mum(who i had met at xmas time when i was there) taught me how to make the small square offerings which is something i've always wanted to learn. What an amazing process of making them! They first make all the different parts to the offering and cut them into the different sizes and shapes and then thread bamboo to attach it all together. Went on a 3 day road trip on his bike to Negara then Lovina. Lovina was extremely quiet. Saw about 3 tourists while we were there. Went to Git Git Waterfall and Bat Santuary on way back to Kuta. Watch out for the monkeys at the Bat place as they were cheeky and were jumping up on a lot of people trying to get into their pockets and bags! Best not to take any bags or cameras and they tended to leave you alone.
Went to friends houses at night rather than clubbing and pubbing so not sure how busy the nightlife was. Was very quiet on the streets though. Dynasty was about 60% occupancy but I heard most other hotels were nearly empty. I felt safe the entire time I was there, wasn't worried at all.
Garuda have changed the flight times home (to Perth) from 8pm to 9.50pm. so I thought this would be great, an extra 2 hours in Bali, but I found that it was horrible having to fly so late and eating dinner at 11.15pm. Bit of a hassle for family picking you up at 1.30/2am as well. Think next time I will fly home earlier.
Went to Centro quite a bit, Seminyak beach, walked along Legian and Melasti streets to do a bit of shopping.
A lot of the DVD shops are closed or don't open until 3 or 4 in the afternoon. I heard they have been having a bit of trouble with the police so I guess this is why.
Overall I had an another AMAZING holiday in Bali and I'm extremely sad to be back in Perth and starting work on Monday.
If anyone has any questions at all about anything I would be happy to help.
