I was there a few weeks ago when the dvd shops were closed - I believe this was in anticipation of police raids. I am not aware of any police raids actually taking place, and the dvd shops are now open again. Often word goes out in the streets of possible raids to dvd shops, or perhaps shops selling pirated billabong surf wear, and the stock disappears off the shelves for a while, as a precaution. The stock/dvds may disappear from shelves but are still available on the quiet if you are discreet about your enquiries.
