The two year courtship would have given Dayu's family ample time to check out Ron.
Michael is not called Ida Bagus and I think those shopkeepers seeing Dayu give you a hug would have felt shy when they realised the situation.
The point you made about Dayu's mother is a good one.
You must be proud of your grandson. I often have to weigh things up,also having a young child as to where we should live. At the moment that decision is made easier by family commitments in Australia and I am fortunate that my wife is still grounded in tradition enough to "ikut suami" follow husband.
