After living in Bali for 12 months and driving around I would recommend hiring a car for a few days. But I also recommend hiring a driver as well. As when you are driving, there is so much to concentrate on as there are motorbikes and people everywhere, you will miss the nice scenery and things to stop at. Its nice to relax on your holidays and give a Balinese some extra money
