Very long ago I worked at Veterans' Affairs in Sydney at Defence Service Home Loans. On my first day I was shown around and at the Enquiry Desk I was introduced to Norm. He had one arm, one eye and an artificial leg. He took one look at me and said, "Miss Heatherbelle". My name is Heather, so I was stunned. Norm was very badly wounded in WW11 in the Pacific - taken to an American hospital where he was nursed by a Southern lady named Nurse Heatherbelle and I looked a lot like her, he said. For the few years I worked there, I was called Heatherbelle by just about everyone, even the higher-ups, and so I now use the name online.
