That you and Doug have ever known me by, but I was registered with three different names, none of which shorten to Rex. But my parents only ever called me by the name Rex, so naturally everyone else called me Rex too. But when I had to produce ID, it led to some confusion, so a good many years ago I phoned the appropriate WA govt dept and they told me how to do a DIY name change. I'm happy with my name and everywhere I go it's rare that there are more than one of us.
