*David Bowie impersonation* Sorry, being silly.
I was there last Sept and got back a few days ago - taxis are more expensive, of course, but still good value. Tourist numbers seemed to be well down in the Kuta/Legian & Candi Dasa areas - not many young Aussies, mainly 30ish to middle aged couples (but young at heart like us). With fewer tourists there isn't so much traffic - sometimes it only takes a few minutes to cross Jl Legian!
I doubt that there will be any increase in tourist numbers in June - August tho is usually quite busy with Europeans taking their summer hols.
June is THE best time of year to be in Bali in my opinion - the wet is well over but the countryside is verdant, the temperatures are pleasant and the humidity is much lower than in Feb or March.
Enjoy:)
