Government now uses a Bank to handle the receipt of monies so exchange rate is good (Certainly better than at Airport Money Changers). This gives you enough Rupiah to get you settled into your Hotel and have an opportunity to exchange with one of the better Money Changers like PT Central Kuta (usually found in Kodak Shops) which operate on a centrally-computerised system and provide you with documentation relative to your money exchange. I have never had a problem with this company.
