We stayed at the Alum Kul Kul for a week in Oct 2005. Nice small boutique resort, we had a alum room facing the small second pool, we looked at rooms before staying and asked for a ground floor room so we could just wander in and out to pool. It was 2 weeks after 2nd bombing so things we quite all around Kuta but we found the AKK to be exceptional quiet. Would say the only downside was bathrooms were very tired (especially considering cost - which is now quoted at approx $100 AU per person per night!). Would recommend this place for a nice quite holiday for 2, maybe a honeymoon type place. Food at papas were great, and staff were also very helpful. Even presented me with a birthday cake, candles, singing the works over breakfast - found my dob on my passport and decided it was a speical day. Nice treat! Let me know if I can help any further
