Just outside Mataharis in Kuta square there is a counter that sells sim cards. You get them to put it in & activate it.
For around Rp 80 000 you get about Rp 15 000 credit & then you can top it up with credit as you please.
I don't usally get it myself, my brother in law gets it for me & then you can top it up without going to an outlet. I have never actually purchased one myself so the prices I'm quoting are from a very bad memory.(I'm sure someone else will correct where I'm wrong)
Also nowdays you have to register them. But once you have the card you can sms people in Oz & then they have your number, & they are so much cheaper for sms ( approx. Rp600??), local calls & the best bit is people in Oz can ring you & it's no charge to you :)
