when traveling back from Perth to Bali as I was way over the limit. Garuda at that time had quite a cheap upgrade for $100.00 as long as you did it at the airport. So i went in and asked for it with my bags coming in at 40 kilo's. Even though business class allowed for only 30 I got away with it, so it was probably cheaper than paying all that excess and i had the added luxury of traveling business class.
