First impressions after having been here last in August 2005 - a quick precis.
AA flight from Sydney full - but it does fly on to Singapore
15 minute wait to get through VOA (all lines open) so there must be tourists coming in
Some of my favourite Warung and shops are closed in Penestanan, Ubud including one that nis always recommended by Lonely Planet - Cafe DeWata
Very hot and sticky compared to July/August
Walked from Penestanan to Ubud market at about 9.00 thid morning, didn't see any tourists. Saw 2 at the markets. Since then have seen another 8. But there do seem to be a lot of Indonesion families on holiday here
Shop keepers are less invasive and pushy.
DVD's in Ubud 15,000 rp with cases and seem to have latest titles. (Ice age 2 etc) Haven't checked quality 'cos I am not buying
