I KNOW there was a post recently about a good art shop in Denpasar. I thought I had bookmarked it but can't find it. One word of warning though...it's true the Balinese are artists, but they don't seem to worry about quality in what they use. I think they can't afford to. If your rels are artists they will probably find quality very important.
One idea - if they work small - a few unfinished carved Balinese frames. They are very cheap & they could varnish them or put a faux finish on. I gilded some & they looked great.
