them try to get any extra. Whatever accommodation is waiting for you & your friend I assume has already been paid. If not it may cost you extra for the room, but the airline & the agent certainly shouldn't be asking for any extra.
My brother just recently missed his flight due to leaving his passport @ home (maybe theres a stupid gene???). He was able to get a seat on the next days flight with no extra charges.He just lost one day off his holiday.
