Hannah booked in to kids club then Cathy myself and a canadian lady who i had meet in the hotel joined us as well to be picked up by Made at 0845 to head to Seminyak.
Had thought about doing this many times but never got around to it so todays the day. After info from BTF plus a few emails decided this was probably one of the closest to Kuta and a reasonable price. The others seemed to be around $90 Aust which i thought a bit much. After a call back to the staff at Sate Bali ask could we please have any menu minus fish as none of us were keen on same.
The class started at 9.30 - 1.30 and cost 325,000 each think you have to have min of 2 and runs everyday.. Started by explained and showing us all ingredients required and how they were prepared ie all the chopping and grinding with the mortar and pestle ( decided this not up my alley unless you have all day to do this ,think the food processor would get a workout )
We all had a turn a doing each of the steps lucky we didnt do the whole lot, would have been ready for breakfast the next day at rate we were doing it - as my Nan used to say not enough elbow grease obviously.
The class is run by Executive chef Nyoman Sudiyasa who has worked at all the huge Hyatts all over the world. He also owns Sweet Basil nearby which is a Thai restaurant.

After all the cooking complete with all the beautiful aromas in the air all sat down to eat. The menu included minced chicken in banana leaf,beef rendang,Mie Goreng,Gado Gado,3 x sambals,satays,pork in sweet soya sauce,rice and dadars (the green pancakes.)
Of course delicious to say the least. i more did the class for fun as not any excuse for a cook but were all given the recipes if i do happen to turn over a new leaf and get the inclination.
So all in all definately recommend this for a great 1/2 day as we all enjoyed it.
During conversation heard another rest. close by i had been interested in called Loloan so Nyoman offered to show as knew the chef there. Had a look around very nice setting but upmarket type menu ie salmon,frogs legs etc so more if youy wanted something special currently only open at night while things are quieter..
