$50 for a bike an expensive gift. Considering our sponsor child walks over 5kms each way to get to and from his school I would say that the bike will be a very big help. This charity allows us the freedom to send as many letters/parcels/money etc as we see fit. Twice a year they organise food parcels to be delivered to the families. The fact that we support these children through a charity organisation has little to do with it. In actual fact we would spend less on our families than we would give to our driver in tips and he is alot more fortunate than our families.

I do remember when we were looking at sponsoring that some of the charity groups did discourage any more than 1 or 2 letters a year and visits restricted to the school only and no large amounts of money or gifts to be given. I am just glad that we selected a charity that doesn't have these restrictions. There are some people that are in a financial position to build new houses etc for their sponsor families. I wish that one day we are able to do more for these families.

That is my personal opinion anyway and each to their own.
