and just returned from snorkelling at the Shelf/Ledge at Menjangan Island. It is absolutely beautiful and even others staying at the Taman Sari (which I would recommend as very nice, friendly and it has some snorkelling right out the front on their beach) said that the coral and fish is better than the Great Barrier Reef. There are dive companies attached to most of the 3 major hotels up that way. I would plan to arrive the day before so you can book your diving/snorkelling trip when there. So I would rate Menjangan the best spot. Another enjoyable spot is an area called the Mangroves which is just off Nusa Lembongan Island.
