...Back to the Sukma Helen Flavel learning centre in Singaraja. Had spoken to Sukadarna about what would be most needed by the family as we hadnt gone shopping as intended before going to meet our sponsored child. Decided it was best idea if i left money both from myself and friends to help out and for Sukadarna to go back to the family when able to check on their most needed items and then purchase these when he had time.
After questioning Sukadarna about the other kids etc they were also helping preceded to show us via pictures some of the sad conditions the families had lived in and with the generosity of their sponsors and others on how their living conditions had been greatly improved nearly bringing those tears to my eyes again.
Shortly after this Dewi the Director of the centre and Sukadarna's wife arrived and after introductios took my 8 yr old Hannah with her while Made and I contnued talking with Sukadarna.
Approx. 3/4 hr later after a tour around i joined Hannah in one of the classes of around 20 kids aged i think from around 8 - 16 for question time in English.
Considering Hannah was missing 2 weeks of school here i think just this one day with these experiences made up for it twofold.. They asked all sorts of things ie "what is your favorite colour""did we have any animals" "could i drive a car" to this i answered "yes but definately not in Bali TOO SCARY" which of course was follwed by a laugh from all.
As much as we would have loved to have stayed and felt very welcome had to head back to Kuta to catch up with my friend in the hotel. A few things comprising of firstaid bits books etc from the collection in my room were also left hopefully of some use at the centre.
The drive back for some reason was much easier on the stomach thankgoodness didnt want Made to be playing nurse to both of us will have to increase his rate if he takes on the 2nd job.i. As Hannah was asleep decided i liked Crackers toilets so much earlier i would make use of them again plus grab a drink for myself and Made. Things were definately quiet in the market there dont think i saw anyone shopping at all.
Hannah had wanted to stop to get out with the monkeys on the way back but as all was peaceful in the car decided to keep it that way.
Saw some amazing Ogoh Ogoh being finished on the way back at the different villages.Couldnt believe the work and artistic detail in these and that they were burnt after the parade considering they were like works of art, albeit scary ones at that.
arrived back late afternoon and after checking on friends ,a cocktail and swim decided that with everyone tired to have a quiet one with room service to save going out with Hannah asleep at the table.
Whilst thinking about what was on the next days agenda thought it would be good to do something i hadnt done in Bali before. So after a few phonecalls to Sate Bali and one to our driver Made ,teed it up for Made to pick us up by 8am to do a cooking class...
