Surfboard/Surfski
To carry a surfboard or surfski as baggage, fins must be removed where possible and placed in an enclosed compartment or taped to the board. Paddles must also be taped to the board. Australian Airlines Check-in will attach a Fragile tag to the bag and you must complete and sign the limited release portion of the baggage tag.

International Weight System: Only accepted if enclosed in a surfboard bag that must not exceed 32kg weight nor its length exceed 277cm (109in). When a second or more board bag is presented, excess is charged whether or not the full weight allowance has been utilised. Note: The above is applicable only to/from/within the South West Pacific; on other routes, they are excluded from checked baggage and are charged (not exceeding 277cm) as 5kg of excess baggage for each board/ski. A charge of 8kg of excess baggage for each kit exceeding 277cm.
