The location is good. It's not too old. My only dislike is the pool. It's not very big and up against the side of the building so doesn't get much sun. Also no room to lie around (except on the roof- which has grass). Rooms are nice.
Your day trip can be done but it depends if you want to do anything at the places you want to visit.
It's 2 hour drive to Kintamani. If you stop at Ubud what do you want to do there? Take at least 4 hours for travelling and work out how long you want to stay at each place. It would be a shame to go through Lake Batur and not stop at the waterfalls and Candi Kuning markets. Personally I would do it in 2 days if I hadn't been to those places before. You could spend a whole day in Ubud.
Lake Bratan, waterfall, Candi Kuning Markets and Tanah Lot at Sunset would be a great day trip.
