This is a classic case of rumours doing harm when they are unsubstantiated.
There is no problem with the balinese re Irian Jaya at all.
The biggest problem is that the balinese are afraid it will keep australian away. The incident with the people going to the hotel, happened in Java, when some people went to a couple of hotels looking for Austalians to interview for the TV and they couldnt find any. Not even in Bali.
