It is fine to head to Kintamani for the day.
You can easily cover Kintamani, Lake Batur, Ubud in one day.
I dont recommend having a buffet lunch up at Kintamani, come back downhill to Ubud, its on the way thru.
You may burst your boiler to get to Tanah Lot for sunset, as you would have to be there by 5.30ish to see the view then the sunset.
Although might be able to head for Tanah Lot after Ubud on your way back to Legian. Yep, now when I think about it, why not. Tanah Lot isnt far out of your way.
The one thing in Bali is that there are never great distances to travel, its just the state of the roads (of and the odd ceremony) that slows you down.
Legian to Ubud is about 36km, Ubud to Kintamani is around 25, then Ubud to Tanah Lot is 30 and Tanah Lot to Legian 29km.
