The suites closest to the pool have all been converted to the closet spare beds now. They are working their way through all the old suites, redoing the decor / lounge area. For sheer size, I love the old suites and if taking children, the small lounge area would be perfect for them to sleep. As an example, Room 112 had 2 lge singles and 2 pulldown beds. Room 111 next to it had 1 king, 2 pulldowns. 212 upstairs 2 singles +, 211 upstairs king +.
To be honest though, there were so few guests there, we found you could chose whatever you want when you get there. I've never been given the room I requested when booking, but it is no big deal to look at what they give you and if not to your liking, they will gladly change it. If the beach is for you, ask for one of the suites down by the ocean. My son lived in the pool and it was lovely to sit reading on my balcony, while overlooking him in the pool.
I have stayed at MBR over the past couple of years because the beds were comfortable, the room really spacious and clean, the pools were good for the teenage son, the massages by the girls of the spa were bliss, the restaurant and house staff are the most loveliest people you can meet, shopping is as close as you can get and .... well that describes Bali.
Suell was right when she said it was quiet at the hotel. Most nights in January, the restaurant was lucky to have 4-6 people eating between 7-9pm. Their food is ok although a little overpriced, but then, I like to try different restaurants and there are many close by.
The massages at MBR are bliss as I said. Let them know whether you like it gentle, medium or very firm. 75,000 per hour or 45,000 per half hour. Massage/Menicure/Pedicure/Foot scrub or Head massage or you can have 1hr Body scrub/Facial or Cream bath. Hair extensions 350,000, acrylic nails 200,000 or waxing 50,000 and up. You can have most of these things poolside, in the privacy of your room or in the spa facility. Open 10am - 9pm.
A small piece of advice. Upon checking into your room, check that the aircon is working properly and that the toilet does not drip/run all the time and that it flushes easily. Maybe this was the reason for the revamp. Always check your hotel bill thoroughly on leaving if you are inclined to charge to your room and retain all the receipts. They have weight scales at reception you can borrow so that you can weigh all those heavy bags you're going to bring home.
Sorry about the length of the novel.
