are in you are that worried. They don't run the streets, they are mainly found in the monkey forests, or you could pay a guide (practically nothing) to walk with you and they will keep at bay.
We took our children 8 & 9 yrs but never let them carry food as this attracts them, and they were safe enough, one climbed on my son when he sat down, thinking a bandaid was food, no dramas though he just stood up and monkey jumped away.
