We did this from necessity, when Air Paradise, went belly up. We flew direct from Perth to Bali, then on way back had stop over in Singapore for a couple of hours. Wasn't too bad, had a quick look around the airport, something to snack on, and not too long before ready to board. Of course, took longer to get home, than direct flight, but overall wasn't that bad.
