I sponsor kids thru the Helen Flavel Foundation and I urge you to think about it. Helens kids are up in Singaraja and costs $120 per yr . This covers all school uniforms, books, etc and I know that Helen covers medical expenses when possible. I have visited my kids several times, and it is truly a great feeling to know that these children are being helped to get an education that otherwise may not be possible. These kids and their families live in conditions that border on primitive. I have visited the homes of some of my children and there is no running water, dirt floors, in some no beds. Helen tends to concentrate on helping kids that really are in desperate need and whose families are in a much lower economical situation - the poorest of the poor. I am going to Bali again in June, and will again be visiting my sponsored children. I take as much school supplies as I can, plus a small gift pack for each child. The smiles you get are priceless. Please think about sponsoring a child - but be prepared to see it through to the end of their school years. It doesn't cost a lot, around $2 a week, your small change put into a jar. It really is a wonderful thing to be part of.If you have any questions I would be glad to answer them.
