I'm no expert and not sure if this matches the increase you mention but there was a release on the etravelblackboard website last week about Garuda charging a revised fuel & insurance surcharges from 1 April 2006 so maybe that's why it is extra? By charging the surcharge for fuel (which other airlines already do), it might keep them going a bit longer financially ... well fingers crossed it does.
