You can do either. We usually stay in Sanur and do day trips to Kuta. We usually get a driver to drop us over for the day in the morning or sometimes we have booked him for whole day and just got them to drop and stop all day long. Their are plenty of drivers over Sanur way if you want to walk around for the day and get a taxi or driver back later. Have fun
