We went to a restaurant called Pesta Perak in Yogya recommended by the hotel. This was about 10 years ago. At first I thought a bit touristy, but what I liked was that a lot of the food was hawker food and I have been never very sure about buying food on the side of the street. It was an opportunity to try lots of different things.
Bargaining in Jalan Malioboro is great fun.
