but tend to agree with Lynne.Airports throughout the world alltend to be somewhat dearer taxi's.
Even the new Adelaide airport has an added taxi fee of $2 for each taxi going in & out of the airport.Supposedly to help pay for all the new facilities & maintenance at the new airport.
IF you get a taxi either to or from Adelaide airport this fee is added to the total of your fare.It is a preset government fee you have no choice in paying.I would presume that tourists are toldat some stage in the journey of this fee ,well I would hope so anyway.
The way I look at it re Bali AND other overseas destinations - a lot of 1st timers pay some very high prices per person for transfers through their travel agents in Oz or through the hotels they are staying at .After the 1st trip to Bali you usually either organise transport in advance through a driver you have got to know or pay for the taxi's at the airport stand.Either way it is way better than organising it back in Oz.The price of petrol has gone up heaps & obviously the powers to be at the airport are demanding a bigger cut - I very much doubt IF the extra Rupiah ends up in the drivers own pocket !
It's all about supply & demand & having a captive audience.I suppose if people don't wish to pay it that they could drag their hot, tired, sweaty bodies after a long flight - walk out of the airport & save 10,000 > 15,000 rupiah.Personally I could not be bothered for such a small amount.
