You are so right!!! Obviously Niksoma had double booked because the rat thught it was his room.
joking aside, she was bloody unlucky to actually have a rat in the room. However just because as you say they hide in shame doesn't mean they aren't there, everywhere!!! I think they sometimes sneak in to even the best hotels without registering and use the pool area or snack on the offering trays. Then there is the odd plate outside a door waiting to be collected after room service...... Alright lets not go there. Sometimes it better not to know.
Another point especially for KP regulars and I know quite a few people hate cats hanging around. Think about it, open or barely covered drains.... Where do rats like to hide? Where might they like to drop by for a snack? <CATS ARE GOOD IN HOTELS>
