The footpaths on Jalan Marlioboro between the railway station and the Keraton (palace) is wall to wall souvenir stalls till about 9pm, then they pack up and the Lesehan food sellers move in and set up their kitchens. That is when all the Jakarta tourists arrive as do the Yogya students for late night supper. So long as you choose the busy ones and get the staff to wash your plate with hot water, not letting them wipe it with a tea towel your stomach should be right. Famous last words!!!
