We off to Bali on Friday for 4 weeks [6 days to go and counting]. This will be our 10th trip in 11 years, and have stayed at Istana Rama about 6 times.
Great Hotel....excellent rooms [we always stay in the cottages] The cottages have interconnecting door for the kids, and are in blocks os 2.
Included Breakfast is great...buffet style, and you can eat as much as you like.
Restaurant out front is pretty good too, but there ase so many unreal restaurants you could eat somewhere different for months and never duplicate!
The pool is pretty large and not too hot as many other places weve stayed at.
The hotel accommodation is not overly cheap, but the location is excellent for surfing.
Right across the road [Jalan Pantai Kuta] is the break they call Halfway Kuta, and it is probably the best spot on Kuta Beach to catch a few waves. Weve had a couple of sessions out there that have been absolutely perfect beachbreaks, although, it quite often closes out. If anywhere on Kuta beach is going to be on then this is THE spot. Lefts and Rights or both!!!
It is also not too far to walk down the beach and get a boat out to Kuta Reef. Our whole family surf and my son loved the place.
Although the hotel is in the middle of Kuta it is pretty quiet, and only a short stroll to Poppies or Jalan Malasti [or a taxi if your a lazy bugger like me]. Really easy to catch a taxi out front of hotel to ANYWHERE, and taxis are the BEST way to get around.
If you want more info on places to surf etc then email me applepi@aapt.net.au.
I gather you are SouthOZ, as are we...live at Seaford.
Cheers
