I think that you will find that most of the "taxes" do indeed go to the operators as in reality it is a combination of fuel surcharges, which go to the airline, and actual taxes,I.E. departure tax, security tax etc which goes to the government and airport companies, they tend to put them together and call them "taxes" using the excuse that if the price of fuel decreases then so will the fuel levy, yea I really believe that will happen. It is a very good way of disguising the real cost of present day flights.
After saying that I still believe that by and large the prices are reasonable in this day and age compared to say the last ten years.
What bugs and annoys me is the fact that I have seen, from perth, 5 different "taxes" advertised,$195,$196,$198,$199 and $219 how this can be with only two airlines flying is totally beyond me.
