then you go to the ground floor of Mataharis in Kuta Square. At the from of the complex opposite the check outs for the supermarket, there is a stall that sells sim cards which work on the Balinese phone system but you can ring Australia for 12C per 30 seconds or 8C per sms message. We had two phones with us to do this in Sept/Oct and they came in very handy when the bombing happened. The girls in the stall will set the phone up for you and explain how to see how much rupiah you still have available and when to top it up. We took a Nokia 2100, and a Panasonic which were no longer locked to any network.
