We made a trip there in 2004 with a couple we met over the internet shirley and barry who have a holiday house in Bali. What a wonderful experience it was. After visiting an orphanage in denpasar and leaving feeling quite disappointed with the welcome we got. We had taken huge amounts of goods donated from australia and also purchased a lot of groceries - unfortunately they were only interested in pushing us for $$.
Negara was a totally different experience - the most beautiful bunch of children you would ever wish to meet as well as the people running it - they are certainly doing their best to make a difference and succeeding. You dont be disappointed with a trip there - yes it is out of the way but all the more reason to go
