Your post is a great example of what this forum is about. You tell it as it is (warts and all).
It has been 15 years since my wife and I visited Amulapura, the Tirta Ganga Water Palace and Ujung (back in 1991). It was quite humerous back then because we organised a driver from a restaurant in Sanur (Melanie)that didn't even know where it was. Armed with a map and considerable assistance from local folk, we managed to find the marvelous moated water palace. At that time it was still suffering from the effects of damage from both volcanic eruption and political agitators. Back in those days there were very few tourists around in that area. That was on our 6th visit to Bali.
I haven't read your other JBRs however it looks like we shared the same flight back to Perth on January 9. It was our 19th visit to the Island of the Gods.
Unfortunately I couldn't look up the map to see where the Anda Amed Resort is located. My wife has taken it with her back to Bali on a visit with her sister! It sounds like it is time for us to revisit the area.
It was interesting to read your comments on the Losari Hotel in garlic lane. They were just finishing it off when we were there last June and it was well into operaion when we were there in the new year. They seemed to have some good deals in their restuarant. We probably should have gone there instead of going to the IndoNational.
Your feedback on the Dewi lounge also reassures me of the value in the Premier Lounge. At least they have great canape and Aussie wines!
Thanks again for your JBR - it has sparked an interest to go exploring the remote areas again.
