so how could anybody in Australia have won a ticket yet??!!
I have written to Garuda's Australian management and voiced my personal opinion that this would have to be the "Clayton's" promotion to end ALL "Claytons' Promotions"!!
I estimate that, with Lawyers fees (sorting-out the myriad of problems with Australia's individual State Lottery Laws) plus payments to the company contracted to handle the SMS part of the promotion -then the associated advertising - they would be lucky to get any change out of AU$200,000.00 - AND just to "give-away" 1600 tickets!! Conservatively, this would cost Garuda $150.00 per ticket - not to mention the actual cost of "putting the bum on the seat" and "feeding and watering them in both directions".
Who would purchase a ticket on the off-chance (although with the decided lack of interest in the promotion odds would be pretty good) that they would win a scond ticket - particularly as the time limit for present specials is 28th January and they wouldn't know if they won a ticket until mid-February and, if they needed to purchase the second ticket, then at what cost???!!!
My personal feeling is that they would have been better off in spending the promotional dollars in a National Radio Campaign (with a network like Nova whose listening audience would appreciate a Bali holiday) and organising an "email" or "sms" competition on the lines of "tell us why you'd like to win a ticket to Bali". They would have had NO shortage of respondents and you can be sure that anyone who won a ticket would have found a "friend" to purchase one to travel with them. Everyone, particulatly Garuda, would have been a "winner" but more importantly Bali!!
Sadly, with the negative feed-back I have received about the "Love Bali" promotion, Garuda could end-up with a serious case of "egg on face".
Still, if you HAVE bought a ticket, DO register as you will have a great chance of winning that extra ticket (not sure that Honeymooners will want a "hanger-on") which should not be too hard to dispose of. Just GO FOR IT!!
