Hi I have a bank account with BII - Bank International Indonesia that I have for when I do buisness in Bali. Fairly easy to set up you get a passbook,ATM card and you can hook up with internet banking. Also can do a T.T(telegraphic transfer) into it from Oz(albeit a bit costly for samml ammounts with the fee involved. I opened the account at the Kuta SQ branch but you can also go to the main banking area in Denpasar where you have most banks. Also with my account when in Bali I can transfer up to 60,000,000 Rp from my Visa if needed. Does have a fee of 1% . BII is the red./orange/ black bank sign you see arounds.
Guess you could ask for an extra card and give one to your friends with the pin for acess. I know also people transfer via Western Union as well to either a bank or P.O. I know in BII they have this set up as well. Make sure you have your Passpot and some other ID for when you open an account. Regards Toni
