When you get to Ubud, go the the tourist centre or book shop (turn left from Monkey Forrest Rd into the main street, only a few shops up the road) & buy yourself a map. The staff can advise you where to walk to avoid the monkeys. Ubud has an abundance of walks you can do, so I wouldn't worry about not getting your early morning walks.
I have been to Ubud many times & I have never seen any monkeys outside the forrest, & even then only seen a max of about 10. I'd have freaked out if I saw as many as Balibarbie did all at once!
If you do come across any at that time of day, I doubt they will be very interested in you because they would have recently eaten during the night.
You might see some bats at dawn and dusk, but they are only small & won't bother you. The local dog population might bark at you, but generally they'll leave you alone.
Happy walking!
