There are plenty of cheap restaurants along this strip and only change your money at the Kodak Shop which has a PT Central Kuta money changer in it opposite Club Bali Mirage. On your first day go for a walk along the road to see were everything is. Your on holidays don't bother cooking, I doubt if you would save much as you would have to go up to the Tragia at Nusa to get everything which is a car ride. Buy you drinks from the little shops close to your hotel as much cheaper than using mini bar in hotel. I believe the bar and restaurant out front (road side) at your hotel is very cheap. Do a search on Novotel, Grand Mirage, Aston and Villa Bintang and plenty will come up on the area. Plenty of gold cabs to take you into Kuta for shopping.
