Just back fm Lombok and Bali. Spent Christmas their and NY in Bali. We stayed at the Senggigi Beach Resort. it is surrounded on 3 side by the sea. We flew Merpati to Lombok )approx 25 mins) Don't know how much it cost. At the time the flights were leaving every 30 mins. Quite a large resort. Well planned in beautiful gardens. There is a variety of accomm. We had just std. room in group of 8 (4up & 4 down). We had room upstairs which was good because we had great ocean views. Beautiful clean beach. We didn't get arround very much as we total nackered and just ate & slept (with the occasional Bintang). Good restaurants in resort. The local are doing it really tough. 2 Hotels closed and a lot of shops (in immediate surrounds - bankrupt, so we were told) closed, but still optimistic. Went into Mattaram. Not as busy as Bali but still enjoyable. Hawkers are desperate on the beach but the hotel employ security to keep them from coming onto the hotel ground. Will definitely go a again and look around more.
