Hi There
Galungan will not be held in August this year. It will be celebrated in May because it is celebrated every 210 days. We were there last Sept/Oct when the Hindus of Bali celebrated it and it was a really lovely celebration. Very much like our Xmas with everyone dressing in their very best clothes and all the men and kids out on the streets in the morning talking and laughing while the women were getting the food and temple offerings ready (sounds like Xmas at our house anyway). Anyway, we were lucky enough to witness a whole village in a procession from their village in the mountains near Ubud to their temple. They were all dressed in white and they were singing and playing their musical instruments. It was wonderful to see. It was a couple of days after last years bombing and they were all blowing us kisses and thanking us for staying on in Bali instead of going home.
Anyway, I found a site with more information for you and thought you might be interested in reading it. I also added the link for the Balinese Calendar so you can see when their celebrations are on. If you have a look at May, you will see Galungan.

We are off again for another week in April school holidays and this will be our 5th visit. It really gets under your skin.
Anyway, hope this helps
