One of the must this trip was to go and have some clothes made (not for me but family members). From my research on the forum I wrote 3 tailors names down and decided to try Janoko Leather first.
About 12 years ago I had suits made by them. The suits have stood to time but not me. Sadly I gave them to the Salvo's as they no longer fitted me.
My brother in law is short and stumpy and always has trouble getting trouser so I offered to take a pair of his trousers with me and get some made. Price quoted A$17 per trouser charged 120,000rph each. Great, result ordered 3 pairs for brother-in-law, hubby ordered 2, George ordered 1. While waiting my daughters loved a striped pant suit and both decided they would'nt mind one for a reasonable price. $45 each wonderful, the girls got measured up. Youngest admired a skirt suit in grey with pink trimmings (short skirt, very modern, next minute she's ordered one of those as well A$45. George has always wanted a long coat "like Steve Segal" for any of you who know who he is. Negotiations and A$62 he had a long jacket ordered.
This shop you can go on, it's such good value and an exceptional job. Back 2 days later for fittings and the majority of the clothes did'nt even need altering. The guys decided they both wanted some work shorts made so both brought in a sample of their favourite shorts and had 2 pairs made at A$11 each charged 100,000rph each short. Micheals were made in denim and Georges were in a drill cotton.
They ask you pay 100,000rph when you place your order, the balance when you pick up.
Anyone contemplating getting clothes made should consider Janoko. They are in Poppies Lane 2, just down from the Bagus Bar, same side heading towards the beach.
The owner said business has been quiet and were happy with our customership and the lady made a comment to me that now they can eat this week.
It is so sad seeing the Balinese doing it tough when there is not many tourist around.
My daughter Ashlee does Jazz and for the last 4 years I buy her 2 pairs of jazz shoes from Iwan Leather in Padma Street. Rizal is the owner and is usually at the shop early evening. Ashlee forgot to take her shoe sample with us so we had to have her foot measured. Went back 5 days later but shoes needed to altered as too big and the leather fell loosely. No problem call back tomorrow. Shoes are fine.
Had to really barter this time for a good price. I usually pay between A$23-A$26 when I buy 2 pairs together but they started at A$40 a pair said no way as have been many times, after alot of negotiation paid 200,00rph per pair which was about A$28.
