I thought it had all changed just recently in as much as the required points to go anywhere, apart from travel between Brisbane to Sydney and Sydney to Melbourne (as well as the other way around) have gone up a hell of a lot but you can now purchase one way tickets. In fact, I think that one way tickets are all you can get these days. If you only have enough points for one way it is still a good option to go with FF and everything else through an agent or self arranged over the net.
